GLIDING
A funfilled gliding experience was organised at Southern Tablelands Gliding Club on 27/12/08. Located at Carrick airstrip, which is about 20 kms from the city of Goulburn. It is a good two hours drive from sydney towards the south. About 30 people had registered for this exciting program.Including kids who were above 10 years of age. So we all got together at liverpool at 0700 hrs in the morning and drove down from there towards Goulburn. Enroute we stopped for a quick break for breakfast at a rest area which was around 50 kms off Hume Highway. We all reached the Gliding Club around 0930 hrs, there everyone of us was briefed about the safety, rules and even about the glider's we were flying by the Chief Flying Instructor of the club.
The weather was favouring us, and was very good for going flying. There was not much cloud cover and even the winds were not gusting, or else these two factors would defenitely affect our flying. And then soon enough our first aviator was briefed about the flight and its controls. which is a Blanik 2-seater Glider. He then got into the cockpit and the canopy's were closed. soon he was cleared for Takeoff on Runway 240. But due to some snag the first two flights were not successful and the glider descended down rapidly immediately after takeoff and made a safe landing on the strip. Then all the club's pilot's got together and fixed up the snag, and then on all the remaining flights went on smoothly. Later in the day at around 1200 hrs the runway directions changed to 060 due to change in the wind direction, and we all moved to the other end of the runway and resumed our flying. By 1500 hrs some dark Cumulo Nimbus cloud started developing over the airfield and as expected there was a huge thunderstorm developing and it started raining very heavily. So few of the remaining flights got cancelled and eventually we all started heading back towards Sydney Overall it was a very pleasent, enjoyable and exciting experience for all of us.

Due to the bad weather all the people gathered could not fly on 27th Dec, an alternative day was booked on 18th January.Everyone were able to fly and enjoy on a beautiful sunny day.Please look at the pictures & read the opinion below.
